How to Believe in Yourself (Even When You Really, Really Don’t Feel Like It)

How to Believe in Yourself (Even When You Really, Really Don’t Feel Like It)

Hey bestie, Let’s be real—believing in yourself can feel impossible some days.

Like, how are you supposed to channel main-character energy when your inner monologue is stuck on "meh"?

But guess what?

You’re not alone, and there are ways to pull yourself out of that funk.

Here’s a little pep talk, complete with tips to help you start believing in yourself—even when your brain’s being a little gremlin about it:

1. Accept the Feels

Had a setback?

Didn’t hit your goal?

It sucks—no sugar-coating here.

Instead of fighting those feelings, try just sitting with them.

Yep, hang out with the discomfort.

It’s not fun, but accepting where you are right now saves you energy that you’d otherwise spend obsessing over “what ifs.”

Plus, it helps you move forward faster.

Weird, but true.

2. Treat Yourself Like Your Best Friend

Would you tell your bestie,

“You suck, and you’ll never succeed”?

(If yes, maybe rethink your friendships 🤔.)

So why do we talk to ourselves that way?

Next time your brain throws shade, pause and ask:

Would I say this to someone I love?

Probably not.

Switch it up with some self-compassion:

"This is hard, but I’m doing my best."

"Everyone messes up sometimes."

3. Do Something That Sparks Joy Channel your inner Marie Kondo and shake things up!

Watch your favorite trash TV, start a random craft project, or lie in the grass and stare at the clouds.

Fun isn’t a distraction—it’s a reset button for your brain.

When you’re not stuck in the stress spiral, it’s easier to believe in yourself again.

4. Phone a Friend (or Your Support Crew)

Feeling stuck in your own head?

Lean on someone you trust.

Friends, family, even a therapist—they’re great at reminding you of your strengths when you can’t see them yourself.

Bonus: Sometimes they’ll make you laugh, which is basically free therapy.

5. Take a Beat

When your emotions are running the show, it’s easy to overreact.

Before making any big decisions, take a step back and let the storm pass.

You’ll thank yourself later.

6. Look for Little Wins Did you get out of bed today?

That’s a win.

Did your coffee hit just right?

Another win. Small victories are everywhere—you just have to notice them.

Collect them like Pokémon, and before you know it, you’ll feel more capable and confident.

7. Break It Down

Big goals can be intimidating, so break them into bite-sized steps.

Each little achievement builds momentum and reminds you that, yes, you can do this.

8. Hug Yourself (No, Seriously)

Feeling low?

Wrap your arms around yourself and take a few deep breaths. It’s not cheesy—it’s science.

A self-hug calms your nervous system and reminds you you’re worth caring for (even by yourself).

9. Remember: You've overcome so many tought things

Reflect on past tough times—how long did they last?

How did you get through?

Spoiler: You survived them, and you’ll survive this too.

Believing in yourself doesn’t mean feeling 100% confident all the time.

It’s about showing up and trying anyway—even when you don’t feel like it.

You’re stronger than you think, and I promise, you’ve got this. 💖

Sending you all the good vibes,

Anita

P.S. Need a boost? Go do something silly, like dancing around your kitchen. Sometimes, it’s the little things that flip the switch. 🎶✨
