What happened when I tried to make everyone happy
Free Pizza?
It took me a long time to realise I can't please everyone.
Like, a REALLY long time.
Even when I'd heard it so many times in motivational memes (oh yes I'm not free pizza, I know), I still, deep down thought I could make everyone happy.
If I tried *really* hard, I was sure I could do it.
But I can make everyone happy!
At one point I honestly thought I would never get a single bad review or a single negative comment.
I remember watching a YouTube video of someone with a much larger business, and they were like "Get prepared for your first criticism, it's only a matter of time".
And I was like nah, it won't happen, I will just work really hard to make everyone happy.
And to be fair you lot are so lovely it did take a long time, but it happened.
Why it's IMPOSSIBLE to please everyone
I had failed to make everyone happy.
It was honestly such a revelation when I realised WHY it is actually impossible to make everyone happy.
And it's so bleeding obvious, I can't believe it never sunk in before.
Everyone is DIFFERENT.
What makes one person squeal with joy make another angry, or cringe.
And that's ok, it's who we are as humans, we are all unique sparkly rainbows, with very, very different tastes, and perspectives on the world.
All the frog butts, all the time
So as it's UTTERLY, PHYSICALLY impossible to make everyone happy, we may as well stop wasting that energy.
Instead, let's concentrate on those who we can bring joy to.
That's what I do now, try and bring as much joy as I can to people who like cartoon frogs with their bums out.
I hope it's working.
